Effective Date: September 1, 2025
These Terms of Use govern your use of the optional Shared Storage feature within The Checkbook mobile app (“App”). By enabling Shared Storage, you agree to the following terms:
Shared Storage allows users to store their Checkbook data in a secure cloud storage location and access it across multiple devices using their App User ID. Users can also invite other users to share access to their Checkbook data, and those individuals will be able to access it from any device using their App User ID.
Shared Storage users will also have the option to send push notifications to each other when new transactions are created. This is an alternative to sending and importing transactions via email when using the other data storage options. It is required to opt in to 'Allow Notifications' on each device to receive new transaction notifications, but that is not required to use the Shared Storage feature.
a. Subscription
The Shared Storage feature of the App requires a paid subscription, which may be offered on a monthly or annual basis. Subscription plans and pricing are displayed clearly in the App prior to purchase and may be subject to change. Family Sharing can be used to share a subscription already purchased by a member of a family group.
Subscriptions are managed through your Apple ID account and billed via the Apple App Store. Your subscription will automatically renew at the end of each billing period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You can manage or cancel your subscription in your Apple account settings at any time after purchase.
If a free trial is offered, you will not be charged until the trial period ends. At that point, unless cancelled, the selected subscription plan will begin and your Apple account will be charged.
Access to subscription features is granted only while a valid subscription is active. If your subscription expires or is canceled, access to these features will be removed.
By subscribing, you agree to Apple’s terms of service and billing practices.
b. User Account
The Shared Storage feature of the App requires users to Sign in with Apple to create an account with a valid App User ID to access the data. This ID will be assigned automatically after signing in with your Apple Account.
c. Invitation Email
Users who are invited to share data with another Shared Storage user must accept an invitation via email. To send the email and to use the "Accept Invite" link in the email, the standard Apple email app must be set up on the device of each user. The email cannot be sent, and the link in the email will not work if either user is only using another email app like Gmail or Outlook. Users can continue to use those other email apps, but they must also set up the Apple Mail app to send or accept the email invitation.
You retain full ownership of all financial records and Checkbook data.
The App developer does not view the Checkbook data except to troubleshoot reported issues at the request of a user. The data is not viewed, analyzed, or shared for any other purpose.
Shared Storage data is hosted by a secure cloud provider under agreement with the App developer.
For more, see our Privacy Policy.
You agree not to use Shared Storage to store:
Illegal or malicious content
Personal data of others without consent
Any content that violates applicable laws or third-party rights
While we strive to maintain 24/7 access to Shared Storage:
We cannot guarantee uninterrupted service
Data sync may vary based on internet connectivity and device compatibility
Backups are the user’s responsibility
You may disable Shared Storage at any time by using the "Delete Shared Storage User Account" option in the settings of the App. Upon doing so:
All synced data will be deleted from our servers
Local device storage or storage in your personal iCloud Drive will remain unaffected
We reserve the right to suspend access if terms are violated.
We may update these Terms of Use at any time. Material changes will be communicated via the App or website.
